Highlights Reel

On Saturday evening, June 20, 2009, Dell’Arte International, a theatre training, research, and performance center located in northern California, presented René with their Lifetime Achievement Award at a banquet in Blue Lake, CA.

As part of the evening’s presentation ceremony, Dell’Arte showed a video montage of scenes from a few of René’s performances over the past four decades, and René has generously agreed to share the video with visitors here. (It’s about 26 minutes long.)

A copy of Dell’Arte’s original invitation to the award event is included below the video.

Enjoy!

invites you to a private dinner and fundraiser to

Celebrate A Virtuoso* Performer!
*”…a performer whose technical accomplishments are so pronounced as to dazzle the public.”

René Auberjonois
Lifetime Achievement Honoree

Meet the actor, attend a private retrospective of his remarkable career, and celebrate his accomplishments.

Dell’Arte will honor an American actor whose career embodies the heart of Dell’Arte’s work. In René Auberjonois’s formative years as a performer, he trained with Dell’Arte Founder Carlo Mazzone-Clementi at Carnegie-Mellon University and later worked with him at such prestigious theater companies as The Arena Stage and The American Conservatory Theater. But in the true spirit of “the actor-creator”, Auberjonois’s work has gone far beyond the influence of any particular teacher or coach. He is unique and memorable, as those will attest who have seen him in such projects as Brewster McCloud, or Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, on stage with Katharine Hepburn in Coco (for which he earned a Tony Award), or recently in television’s Boston Legal.

The evening begins with a catered dinner for 120 (VIP Invite), followed by a large-screen retrospective of the actor’s work in the intimate Carlo Theater. Auberjonois will answer questions and comment on the trajectory of his career. The event then expands to the Rooney Amphitheatre for the awards ceremony, silent auction, raffle, and dancing under the stars to the sounds of The Joyce Hough Band.

There will be a Silent Auction in the Rooney Amphitheater for Star Trek memorabilia from Auberjonois’s private collection. There will also be a Raffle to win the distinctive voice of René Auberjonois on your home answering machine. Among other film, radio, and novels-on-tape credits, Auberjonois was heard in Disney’s The Little Mermaid animated films (receiving top billing as Chef Louis), the Butler in Joseph: King of Dreams, and as The Skull in The Last Unicorn.
