We are running a charity fundraising auction and sale to celebrate the life and work of René, with items priced starting at $5.00. Please check out further details here!
In honor of what would have been René’s 81st birthday (coming up on June 1), we’ve posted a few items on eBay that may be of interest to fans. Drop by and check out the details here. Thanks!
For many years, we have conducted auctions of René’s memorabilia and autographed items to celebrate his birthday. He would have been 80 on June 1, 2020, and in honor of the occasion we set up one final, blow-out sale that began in late May.
The major auction featured over 90 items, which were purchased by fans from all over the world. We had a few items that were unclaimed, and a few more that exist in multiple copies (such as a fanzine, and back issues of the ORACLE newsletter), and we will keep them available as fixed-price items while they last. You can visit this page for more details and updates.
Shortly before Thanksgiving 2019, René put together a “video thank you note”, celebrating some of the many fans who’ve come to see him at conventions and pick up an Odo’s Bucket cartoon to support René’s charity fundraising efforts.
René began using his autograph in the 1990s to raise money for Médecin San Frontières/Doctors Without Borders and other humanitarian organizations, and since then thousands of fans have participated in online auctions, in-person signings, and mail-order requests that René was always happy to fulfill. It wasn’t until René got active on Twitter (mid-20-tweens) that he started taking photos of generous donors, so those are the folks whose kindness is recognized here.
But to everyone who has ever bought an autograph or made a donation – thank you!
As the gift-giving holidays approached in 2019, we offered a number of items for the fans in your life that love René, Odo, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Thanks to everyone who participated – we raised over $600 over the course of two rounds of auctions. As always, after shipping costs, all money raised was donated to support the life-saving work of Médecin San Frontières/Doctors Without Borders.
